Rolex "Bart Simpson" crown

The name “Bart Simpson” refers to the shape of the Rolex crown on the dial of a particular model. This dial was named for its similarity to the face shape of Matt Goering's character (see illustration).

This dial can be observed on only two references and over a “relatively” precise period of time: the Submariner 5512 and 5513 produced around the mid-60s.

This is in fact the last lacquered dial of the Submariner production and, like the first matt dial, it is a “Meter First” dial: 200m = 660ft.
